Rip off the scab… and eat it! Then forget it. Quickly.
This picture represents what happens when you fail to wear protective clothing when riding a motorcycle… and then do stupid shit on it. I had an equally impressive set of scabs on my arse and legs (picked those as well). Not a particularly great moment in time for Coops.
We sometimes do things that are not smart or clever. Taking risks for absolutely no reason at all. Just for the sheer fun and excitement of it. Some of these less-than-smart or clever actions lead to injury, pain, giant scabs and a huge slice of regret.
At least I was sober for this one. Many other stupid moments cropped up after undergoing a transformation in the Stella-porter (ie I was shit-faced).
Through a moment of stupidity, I put my career back, suffered broken bones, trashed a perfectly serviceable Honda CBR600 and had a medic painfully scrub out road rash for over an hour.
Nearly 20 years later, I still have the physical scars from such stupidity.
But I got over it. Quickly. I had to, as aircrew training was just around the corner and I had to be in the right mindset and fitness to reach the grade required to get through.
This “getting over shit” skill has stood me in good stead for military life. It’s a skill I believe I can pass on to others. The art of giving less of a shit.
So don’t dwell on the “why did I do that!?!” for too long. It’s a miserable place to be.
Generate an ability to get through it, learn and move on.
Even if you have been a dickhead.
Did I feel like a complete idiot for a short time afterwards? Certainly.
Was it worth it to improve my wheelie skills… totally.
p.s. chicks dig scars!
Like & comment if you can do something equally is stupid, move on and laugh about it.
